My Big Fat Rant:
Here’s Why Getting Amazing “Picture Perfect” Abs has Nothing to do with Performing Endless Crunches, Punishing Cardio, or Guzzling $$$’s Worth of Pills and Powders…
Want to get a six pack fast? I’ve got news for you: it’s not necessarily as difficult as you may think. So many guys (and gals) out there believe they’re doomed to suffer a bulging belly for the rest of their lives…
*They think the only way they can restore muscle tone is by doing zillions of crunches.
*They think there’s no way they will ever shift that ‘spare tire‘.
*They have bad eating habits and despair at ever getting over their cravings for crappy food.
Wrong! Wrong! Wrong!
You CAN restore muscle tone to a bulging belly – and without doing a gazillion crunches each day (oh the relief!)
You CAN get rid of belly fat – even if it’s stuck around for years.
You CAN conquer food cravings and learn to enjoy healthy, nutritious food.
YES YOU CAN!
Does it take an iron will? Does it take levels of self-denial that would test a Trappist monk? No! Of course, it does take a commitment – you’re not going to get rock-hard abs stuffing your face with a double-pepperoni every night (and washing it down with a beer or three).
But it’s nothing that anyone with a tad of self-control can’t accomplish. If you follow certain ways of eating and exercise (I.e. eat and exercise as nature intended), you will naturally (and pretty quickly) become lean and muscular. And a big benefit of being lean and muscular? Yes, hot-looking abs.
It really isn’t rocket science. Here’s a question for you:
Have you ever seen a fat antelope?
No, I haven’t gone off my rocker. And yes, I know there aren’t too many antelopes in the suburbs
. But seriously, my point is that most animals – and that includes humans – in their natural state are lean and muscular – even those that eat a lot of fat.
Fat humans are a relatively new phenomenon – they’ve only existed since the beginning of agriculture (about 10,000 years ago) when we began using starchy carbohydrates as staple foods.
And the FATTEST humans – the kind of morbidly obese people we see waddling around today (those that aren‘t bed-ridden, of course) – are a VERY new phenomenon. They’ve (mostly) only started to appear since nutrient-depleted junk foods and processed foods have become a mainstay of the modern diet.
Most people with a less-than-ideal body got that way because:
*They don’t eat (enough of) the kind of foods humans are best adapted to.
*They don’t exercise – or if they do, they do so in an unnatural way.
The simple truth is, by returning to a more natural way of eating (and exercising) you will quite naturally start to become lean and muscular. Getting lean and muscular – and getting fabulously ripped abs – takes nothing more than eating and exercising in a way that is closer to the way nature intended.
Actually, the diet aspect of getting lean is an interesting one. Want to know one of the biggest secrets to getting really lean? In fact, it’s probably THE single most important factor in understanding how to melt away tummy fat – and help reveal those head-turning abs that men envy and women love.
I’ll tell you, right now, for FREE:
Fat doesn’t make you fat!
Again, I haven‘t gone off my rocker. And if you know your onions (excuse the pun) about diet, this is will be old news to you. The fact of the matter is, it’s not the fat that you eat (in and of itself) that makes you fat, it’s what causes your body to store the fat that’s the problem. What is this cause? It’s insulin.
This is how it works:
Certain foods are what are known as high-glycemic – this means that they are rapidly turned into glucose by your body (all food, by the way, is ultimately turned into glucose – it‘s what your body uses as energy). They’re foods such as refined sugar, white bread, pasta, potatoes, and even many supposedly healthy whole-grain products.
All of them have the effect of dumping glucose into your blood stream – and this is fine if you’re going to it up by doing something physically demanding. Athletes often use sugary foods as a quick source of energy. The problem is when you have lots of glucose sloshing around your system that you don’t use up.
Your body has to deal with this by secreting the hormone insulin. Insulin (assuming you‘re not insulin-resistant or diabetic) does a great job of bringing your blood sugar back into balance, but it also has the effect of causing your body to store fat.
It also causes inflammation of your endothelium (the lining of your arteries). When your endothelium becomes inflamed, it will develop lesions. Your body will then seek to plug these lesions with cholesterol. Over time, these globs of cholesterol (and other tissue) will become a blockage, which will likely cause – ugh! – a heart attack or stroke.
(By the way, did you know that the most common symptom of a heart attack is not chest pain, nausea, or an indigestion-like feeling? It’s actually sudden death. Yes, really! Think about that next time you hanker after a double-whopper and fries!)
My point in telling you all this is to drive home one core truth:
Being lean and muscular is normal. Having muscular abs is normal. If you’re not as lean and muscular as you’d like, it’s because you’ve made the mistake that 9 out of 10 people in our society make: you’ve deviated from the ways of eating and exercising that will naturally make you lean, strong and ripped.
Getting back on track really isn’t that hard. It just means making some adjustments to your diet, taking up the right kind of exercise, or modifying your routine if you already exercise. Obviously I don’t have the space to go into detail here, but I highly recommend this resource if you want to learn more.
If you want to get lean and muscular, if you want to get a six pack (reasonably) fast, then educate yourself. Take that knowledge and start making the necessary changes to your lifestyle. Does it take discipline?
Yeah, some. But it’s not that hard. Do you want to look like a butterball for the rest of your life? Just make the commitment and get on with it.
Before long you will have a body to be proud of. What’s more, you’ll gain something far more precious than a great-looking body: excellent health and a long life.
Now that’s something worth celebrating (just not with a double-pepperoni and 3 cans of Bud
)
